What is the Person Centered Approach (PCA)?
The Person Centered Approach is a set of skills by which a human being can relate as a person, to a person. The 4 core skills of the Person Centered Approach can be therapeutic when exhibited by the therapist in the presence of the client, or treated as teachable/learnable skills for the client to become independent in their use. The 4 core skills are Congruence, Empathic Listening, Empathic Following, and Unconditional Positive Regard.
This approach promotes authentic relating and manifesting ones self congruently.
